I worked all weekend on 7KP and still didn’t catch up–but made good progress. I’ve figured out that it’s not enough to just plug production tasks & dates into the work log (spreadsheet). It’s actually helpful to set up a separate production schedule for each chapbook, a fifteen-week task-by-task checklist I’m going to use to try and not fall (too) behind. I’m still playing massive catch-up for August but hoping this new system will help to keep me on track.
On Saturday I was at Mom’s from 9:30-3 to give J a break. I stopped at the pole barn to retrieve the laser printer I bought on clearance at Staples (years ago). Luck: it’s still sealed in the box with no rodent damage. My current laser printer has been a workhorse but has been jamming repeatedly and is now creasing every page, so it’s useless to me.
T got home this morning while I was still getting dressed. He’s on eight-hour shifts this week–something about taking a personal day on Friday (the 4th, my birthday). As I was getting ready to leave, he was bringing something in from his car. There’s a butterfly in the garden.
What kind?
I don’t know.
What color?
Orange.
A monarch! Is it on the milkweed?
I guess.
I looked out the window. The monarch was flitting around the swamp milkweed. Yay, I said, I planted that just for you!
Also: the elderberry cuttings I took last month and have kept in a jar of water on the LR windowsill have erupted with roots. Success! I want to try to get more on Wednesday.
